Beware of Plastic That You Use

Plastics have become part of our life. Plastic has been made into a variety of household items or for other purposes. The cause of much use is it is cheap plastic and not broken. Plastics are also often used as food containers. But you should be aware, the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) Republic of Indonesia give warning to users about the dangers of recycling plastic bags and food packaging made from PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride). The packaging of this PVC material or otherwise contain heavy metals of lead can cause liver cancer and damage the nervous system.

For that, you have to be careful of plastic that you use. If you must use plastic, things you notice is the look at the code, usually located in the bottom of plastic containers. The code indicates what type of plastic material it is made. The code is a triangle consisting of three arrows or the letter which stands for the name of the manufacturer of plastic materials. By knowing the types of plastic raw materials, we can find out whether the type of food is dangerous or not.

Here's the code that need attention:

1.      High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

Typically used as packaging material medicines or cosmetics.

2.      Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC)

It is the most dangerous substances. Often used as a channel of water, building materials, sometimes used as toys. To the parents could care for him as a toy for children under the age.

3.      Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE)

Commonly used to wrap vegetables and frozen meat.

4.      Polypropylene (PP)

Used for packaging food, beverages, margarine, shampoo bottles or baby bottles.

5.      Polystyrene (PS)

Polystyrene is a substance that is harmful to the body. If oily foods are heated in these containers, styrene can migrate into food, then use this material as food containers are not recommended. Form of styrofoam cups and plates of food that has long been regarded as a cause of cancer, spoons and forks, CD boxes.

The save plastic that can you use  are code 1, 3 and 4. Other code we should use as recommended in order not to endanger our health.
